Self-Compassion Break

With Lotta Adelstal & Siri Chandler

FULLY BOOKED

A Weekend to Recharge, Rebalance and Reconnect

Lotta Adelstal has worked with organizational development, leadership and behavioral change for 25 years. She has ventured into different types of meditation and mindfulness practices but it was not until trying Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) that she made the effort to bring mindfulness into day-to-day life.

She uses mindfulness and MSC in her personal life as well as in her work with organizations to become a more balanced and happier place to work and grow in, and with leaders to build the resilience they need to thrive. She is also a trained Tension Relief Exercise (TRE) provider and is currently finalizing her training to become an Emotional Intelligence coach with Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence coaching certification program.

Siri Chandler is an experienced mindfulness educator — training educators, parents, corporations, athletes, and students of all ages. Her genuineness, kindness and personal experience of the benefits of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) infuse her courses with a special personal touch.

A dual Thai-American national, Siri lives in Pranburi where she facilitates retreats, courses, and workshops.  As an enthusiastic life-long learner, she devotes her time to deepen her own practice, cultivated over the past 30 years. Mindfulness has helped her cope with recent difficult life challenges as well as cultivated joy and well-being. She is especially drawn to bringing it into daily life in a practical way and is enthusiastic to share this way of being with others. To learn more visit: www.mindfulnessth.com/about

When experiencing a set-back or difficulty in life - whether it is relationship conflict, a mistake at work, or simply something as common as forgetting – do you tend to beat yourself up?  Instead of treating yourself as you would treat a good friend, many of us tend to unleash a stream of self-criticism towards yourself, adding to the pain we are already experiencing.

Research shows that practicing mindful self-compassion greatly enhances emotional wellbeing and provides inner resources to deal not only with everyday ups and downs but also to greater pains such as divorce, health, and other emotionally charged situations.  Mindful self-compassion gives you emotional strength and resilience and helps reduce stress and anxiety. Being self-compassionate is linked to an increase in life satisfaction, happiness, optimism, creativity, and gratitude. It also helps you maintain healthy habits such as diet and exercise as it motivates you through kindness rather than criticism and judgment.  It can actually change the way the brain rewires in response to life’s challenges, which means a stronger ‘immune system’ to difficulties.

Mindful self-compassion is a capacity that can be learned by everyone.

This retreat will provide you with a space to reflect and recharge but is also a training in mindful self-compassion. You will have an opportunity to look at how you typically respond when difficulties arise in your life and to learn tools for becoming a warm and supportive companion to yourself. You will learn how to bring these skills into your daily life to

  • Motivate yourself with encouragement rather than with criticism

  • Handle mistakes and difficult emotions with greater ease

  • Use self-compassion to live your life more in accordance with your values

  • Transform challenging relationships, old and new

  • Manage caregiver fatigue - for professionals and people caring for parents & children

Post-retreat, for 4 weeks you will be supported in your practice and motivated to make small steps of change with:

  • Weekly emails with inspiration and links to more learning.

  • Weekly (optional) virtual group meet-ups to see how the tools are working for you, ask questions and share.

There is no need to have any background in mindfulness or meditation.  If you already have a mindfulness or mindful self-compassion practice, the retreat is an opportunity to deepen your practice, connect with yourself and others, and strengthen your intrinsic motivation to lead your life mindfully and with compassion.

The training is based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Chris Germer, and based on the 8-week program provided by the Center for Mindful Self Compassion - https://centerformsc.org/
